Following the unexpected closure of the Piatto Café in May, SlackFolk has now reached agreement to open in a new venue at Coda, 63 High Street, Colchester, CO1 1DN – on the south side of the High Street between St Nicholas Street and Queen Street. Coda is a new performance and event venue, which opened early this year. They serve tea, coffee and alcohol at commercial prices, but not food. SlackFolk will resume its regular sessions on Saturday 13th July at Coda, between 2.00 pm and 4.30 pm, and then on the second Saturday in each month. We’re looking forward to seeing you.

SlackFolk presents a platform for acoustic solo artists, bands and poets to showcase their material and offers everybody a chance to escape the chores of Saturday afternoon and to hear some great local acoustic music and poetry. All are welcome and entry is free.

The SlackFolk Autumn Acoustic Mini Festival, at Firstsite on Saturday 28th September, will take place as planned.

We are sad to have left the Piatto Café, and are grateful to them for the support they have given us over the past four years. We are looking forward to establishing SlackFolk at Coda and presenting music and spoken word sessions at an exciting new venue, with much to offer both performers and audiences.
